I don't know if you are like me, but this is a question I get from my kids all the time. So, the Concierge Home Services team did a little research on this and this is what came up:
First: Your room looks neat and clean. Seriously. Sure, there may be a damp towel on the floor in the corner and some dirty socks under the bed. When you walk into a room and the bed is made, that is what you see first because the bed is the focal point of the room.
Second: It is inviting and feels better to crawl into a made bed. Think of being in a hotel. You feel all snug as you pull back the covers and get into a nicely made bed.

Third: Some argue that “closing” the bed keeps germs in but I think it keeps them out, plus a variety of other things like floating dog hair. I’d rather they got dirt on the bedspread than the sheets. And in a room that isn't used frequently, like your guest room, keeping the pillows under the comforter will stop dust from landing on them.
Lastly, a Kingston University study said it is actually harder for house dust mites to live in a made bed than an unmade bed. So you now have science behind you on this!
So, when your kids ask you if they have to make their beds, now you have a bunch of reasons to say YES!
