Your 30 Second Commercial

When you start networking, they tell you you need to have your 30 second commercial ready.  Sometimes it is called an elevator speech.  It's an introduction to you and your services.

I've heard everything from "My name is Jane Smith and I do home and auto insurance and I am looking for people with high net worth to insure" to "You know when you can't sleep at night because you are worried about the bills and whether you can send Johnny to university in ten years and you need to take a vacation and you..." and they go on for over 30 seconds.

Somewhere in the middle is the right balance of describing your ideal clients' pain points and how you can help them.

In Pamela's 30 Seconds Go post, she provides some sound advice on how to describe what it is you do and when to apply the variations.  Go check it out.  It's worth the minute or two it will take to read.
